Support for Women and Mothers

One of Lisa’s passions is supporting women on their life path: engaging deep listening, healing and “space holding” for all that is and is not. Often in our worldly work we are giving and giving, responding and reacting, even around the most worthy of issues; but over time, these demands can take a great toll on mind, body and spirit. If we are in the work of transforming our world for the long haul, we have to know how to radically care for ourselves and each other along the way.

Sharing reflection space with Lisa is an opportunity to pause, breathe and turn inward as a means of listening to our hearts and processing goals, dreams, passions and challenges in a way that feels life-giving, creative, meaningful, and practical. There are many heart-centered ways to approach this time, including: narrative or written reflection; exploring various mind-body-spirit connection techniques; creative problem-solving tools; learning and practicing embodied methods of integration; artistic expression;  dream excavation; resource sharing;  leadership/professional support and mentoring; and unleashing our voices and bodies through movement and song.

Additionally, Lisa considers mothering to be a most sacred vocation, but one that can also be depleting and isolating. It is an honor to support mothers in navigating the joys and challenges of motherhood while also visioning and creating life practices that are nourishing and sustaining.

Spiritual Accompaniment

While Lisa has spent years offering spiritual support in various contexts, she also supports folks through the framework of Spiritual Companioning or Accompaniment (also known as Spiritual Direction), offered individually and in groups. Lisa’s training and approach honors the whole person by incorporating trauma awareness and somatic engagement; she especially invites folks who are connected to work, movements and/or traditions that are rooted in social justice and liberation. She has also completed training to offer nature-centered spiritual support and exploration.

From the Spiritual Direction & Companion International website: “Spiritual companionship is a relationship in which a companion allows through deep listening the spiritual story of the other to unfurl. Through this relationship, the person seeking companionship is empowered to explore a deeper relationship with…however you may refer to the Ground of All Being.”

Lisa works with many women who have some element of a faith tradition as part of their spiritual upbringing or origin story. Many women have either left that faith entirely, and/or rejected most of its patriarchal teachings and practices, yet still yearn for deep connection with the Sacred and are looking for ways to integrate and process their spiritual and religious roots to claim the wholeness of their stories. Lisa has been building a virtual community for women and non-binary folks who have some form of religion in their origin stories and wish to be  part of re-visioning a more liberating and nourishing context for spirituality, all while building brave and authentic community. Contact her if this sounds like something you would like to explore!

You can find Lisa’s SDI Companions Profile here.

All spiritual support and accompaniment sessions are offered both in-person (especially in wild spaces) and virtually via Zoom, either 1-1 or in small groups. Lisa also loves to facilitate retreats and immersive experiences. Contact her for cost information and details.

Lisa welcomes, honors and celebrates LGBTIQA+ persons in all aspects of her support offerings.

This photo is not fancy or formal or what anyone would recommend using professionally. I am wearing a sweatshirt and a backpack. My hair is not done and I have no makeup on. It is a picture I took while attempting to photograph a magnificent sunset sky, but I snapped the photo a split-second before realizing the camera was facing me. The unexpected gift was getting to see what awe and wonder look like in my own eyes. In this photo, I see the places I have been broken open and it is a sight to behold. I hope you get to see this for yourself as well, in your own eyes and your own heart.
